Shahnaz Belly is a listeners’ choice popular singer of Lalon songs. Besides Lalon songs, she is also expert in folk songs. Hailed from Kushtia, Shahnaz Belly is the elder daughter of Monsur Ali Biswas and Sujata Ali Surjo. Belly is always respectful to her parents. With Belly’s initiative her parents got the scope to perform Hajj. For this reason, the singer
is grateful to Allah. However, Belly is trying to
establish her only daughter Ava as a good human being. She not only thinks about her family or music but also dedicates herself to present good songs to keep in mind the choices of listeners and her fans. For the prospering of Lalon songs among the singers of new generation, Belly has established a music academy titled Shahnaz Belly Music Academy at her own village West Abdalpur in Kushtia. On April 3, the National Film Day, her music academy started its journey. Shahnaz Belly is founder and president of the academy while Jamir Hossain is vice president and Md Shahjahan Siraj is the general secretary of the academy.
Shahnaz Belly informed that now 50 trainers are receiving training in Lalon songs at her academy. Full time Ustad (mentor) is yet not fixed for the academy. After Eid-ul-Fitr, final decision will be taken in this regard, she said. While sharing her feelings for establishment of own music academy, Shahnaz Belly said, “Basically my dream revolves with this music academy. I believe for the flourishment of Lalon songs this academy will play a pivotal role. As I have devoted myself with Lalon songs, so I want to explore these songs more. In my academy, the trainers who will learn music they must get the scope to develop their rendering skills in Lalon songs. I want real singers should come out. I also want Lalon songs can be explored more. By this way the name of my academy will flourish through practicing Lalon songs. My great luck my parents are over my head like shadow. It is really a blessing for me.” Shahnaz Belly also said that recently she has returned from Agartala after performing in stage show there. Therefore, at the end of season of stage show, she performed in Tangail, Aricha, Kaliakair, among other places. Kalpana and Priya are her two younger sisters.
