Shahjalal Islami Bank gets new chairman

Akkas Uddin Mollah has been unanimously elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited in its 259th meeting on Thursday at its Boardroom. In the same meeting, Khandoker Sakib Ahmed and Mohammed Golam Quddus re-elected as Vice-Chairmen respectively, says a press release.
Newly elected Chairman Akkas Uddin Mollah was born in 1954 at Nawabganj, Dhaka. After completion of education, he started export business of readymade garments and established a number of Garment Industries. He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Russel Spinning Mills Ltd., Russel Garments Ltd., Ekram Sweaters Ltd., Russel Knitting Ltd., Russel Washing Plant, Shahan Colours Ltd., Tania Cotton Mills Ltd. and PNR Fastener Co. Ltd. The Renowned Industrialist and social worker, Mr. Mollah is the Chairman of Osman Memorial Hospital and Osmania Madrasa. He has also travelled many countries for promotion of his business.
Re-elected Vice-Chairman Khandoker Sakib Ahmed was born in 1975 in Narsingdi district. He started business after completion of his MBA Degree. Ahmed is a Sponsor Shareholder and Director of the Bank. He has long and Creditable business experience for more than a decade. He is the Managing Director of Zuairia Group, Zuairia Trade International, Z. Agrovet Enterprise and Proprietor of Khandoker Poultry & Fisheries. He is also Director of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Securities Ltd. and Sponsor of Shahjalal Islami Bank Securities Limited. By dint of his talent, industrious and amiable personality he is emerging as an eminent business figure. He has also traveled different parts of the world in connection with his business.
