Shaheed Shahjahan Sangha earned an emphatic 196-run victory over Brothers Union Club in the CJKS Ispahani Premier Division Cricket League at the MA Aziz Stadium here on Tuesday.
Sent in to bat first, Shahjahan Sangha piled up a comfortable 299 runs for 4 in stipulated 50 overs with Nayeem Islam contributing 84 runs off just 53 balls featuring 10 fours and two sixes.
Mainuddin Rubel (not out 67), Piar Mohammad Sourav (63) and Mahbubul Karim (60) were the other notable scorers for Shahjahan Sangha.
Chasing a huge target, Brothers Union were bundled out cheaply for 103 runs in just 25 overs against devastating bowling by Mohammad Belal.
Jahurul Islam (24) and Imrul Karim (29) were the notable scorers for Brothers.
Mohammad Belal made the major damage in Brothers innings grabbing seven wickets for 38 runs in his nine-over spell.
In the day’s other premier league match, FMC Sports defeated City Corporation Green by 110 runs at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here.
Winning the toss, FMC Sports batted first and scored 253 for all in 49.3 overs with Forhad Reza making 60 and Taibur Rahman 54 runs.
Rajin Saleh and Sadiqur Rahman claimed three wickets each conceding 38 and 39 runs respectively.
In reply, City Corporation Green were all out for 143 runs in 37.4 overs with Rajin Saleh scoring 36 runs.
Tanvir Hossain, Ashraful Babu, Mominul Haque and Taibur Rahman bagged two wickets each giving away 11, 15, 16 and 31 runs respectively.
Meanwhile, in the Confident Cement CJKS First Division Cricket League, Agrabad Nowjoan Club Green outplayed Customs, Excise and VAT Club by 10 wickets at the Women’s Complex here on Tuesday,
Batting first after winning the toss, Customs, Excise and VAT Club were all out for 137 runs in 36 overs.
In reply, Agrabad Nowjoan Club easily reached the target making 138 runs for no loss in 27 overs.
Towhidul Islam made a century scoring not out 106 runs off just 77 balls hitting eleven fours and seven sixes while other opener Mohammad Tausif added 83-ball unbeaten 24 runs hitting three fours.
