Former Satkania MP and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Shahjahan Chowdhury, who was arrested on charges of inciting and inciting Hifazat-e-Islam violence in Hathazari, has been remanded for three days.The remand was granted by Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahriar Iqbal’s court on Saturday (May 15th) at noon.
Additional Superinte-ndent of Police (DSB) of Chittagong District Abdullah Al Masum said that Jamaat leader Shahjahan Chowdhury has been shown arrested in three cases of Hathazari police station. In one case of Hathazari police station, an application was made to the court for a 7-day remand. The court granted a three-day remand after the hearing. Satkania Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ali said he was arrested late Friday (May 14) from his residence in Chhamdar Para, Ward 4 of Satkania Municipality. Anwar Hossain. Shahjahan Chowdhury, Ameer of Chittagong Metropolitan Jamaat and a member of the Central Jamaat Majlis, was elected Member of Parliament from Satkania in the 1991 and 2001 elections.
