Students and teachers of a photography institute in Chittagong on Sunday demanded immediate release of renowned photographer Shahidul Alam.
The Voice of Humanity and Hope made the demand at a human chain in front of Chittagong Press Club.
Shahnewaz Khan, founder of the institute, said Shahidul Alam was not only a photographer but also a collector of rare photographs of the 1971 Liberation War.
Shahidul was able to convince world famous photographers, including Ragu Rai, for documenting the war. Those photographs were projected to the world to create support for the Liberation War, he said.
“Shahidul Alam has always been vocal if any injustice happened anywhere in the country,” he said.
