Dr Shahida Akhtar, additional secretary of the Cabinet Division, has been made officer on special duty (OSD) in the Ministry of Public Administration for disclosing the price of Chinese vaccine.
Earlier, the cabinet committee on public purchase approved the proposal to buy 1.5 crore doses of vaccine from China. Shahida Akhtar at a briefing discloses the price of vaccine to the reporters.
The announcement of the vaccine price made some complications and in the midst of this issue, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification of the change in Shahida’s status citing public interest.
Bangladesh is going to buy 1.5 crore vaccines for coronavirus from China National Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (Sinopharm). The first shipment of 50 lakh vaccines of Sinopharm is expected to arrive in the country in June. The matter of signing three agreements between countries to buy 1.5 crore vaccines from Sinopharm in three months is in the final stage.
