Shaheen Reza Noor Passes away

Shaheen Reza Noor, elder son of Martyred journalist Sirajuddin Hossain and former executive editor of The Daily Ittefaq has died of cancer in Vancouver, Canada at 10:40 am Bangladesh time on Saturday (February 13) at the age of 67.

Touhid Reza Noor, younger brother of Shaheen Reza Noor confirmed his death to the media. He said Shaheen’s condition started to worsen 10 days back and he was admitted at Vancouver General Hospital four days ago.

In a condolence message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina remembered Nur’s contributions to upholding the spirit and values of the Liberation War and the mass movement against war criminals with due respect. She prayed for the salvation of his departed soul and expressed sympathy for his bereaved family members.

Shaheen, founder of Projonmo Ekattor, had testified against Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid in a case filed for his involvement in crimes committed against humanity during the Liberation War.

Shaheen Reza was born in Shalikha upazila of Magura in 1954.
