Shaheed Minar turns into jungle at Bhangura

Although preparations are underway to celebrate the Int’l Mother Language and Amar Ekushey day with due dignity, the Martyr Monuments at Maidandighi Bazar in Bhangura upazila of Pabna has been neglected. Due to lack of maintenance for a long time, the premises of Shaheed Minar have now turned into a jungle and garbage dump.
It is reported that the Martyr Monuments was built on the government land adjacent to the Union Community Center about thirty years ago with government funds.
Due to lack of maintenance, various types of garbage are dumped here and the weeds around the Martyr Monuments are filled with weeds.
Even all the roads leading to the Martyr Monuments been occupied.
In the past, the people of Union used to observe the great Ekushey February with flowers at this Martyr Monuments. The locals also complained that many people used to urinate in the premises of Martyr Monuments surrounded by jungle.
Poet Nuruzzaman Master, a popular teacher in Maidandighi area, said, “Sadly, the dignity of Martyr Monuments is being neglected today due to their own negligence.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Nahid Hasan Khan said he will take necessary steps to protect the dignity of the Martyr Monuments by cleaning it as soon as possible.
