Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police Mohammad Shafiqul Islam has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Shafiqul Islam will be replaced Md Asaduzzaman Mia, whose tenure expired on August 13 this year but was given on month extension from August 14. Asaduzzaman Mia joined as DMP Commissioner on 7 January 2015.Public Security Division of Home ministry on Wednesday issued a gazette notification in this regard.
Earlier, Shafiqul Islam was the chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police. He was appointed as CID chief on May 16 this year.
Shafuqul Islam entered police service in 1989. He was born in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district on October 30, 1962.
In another gazette, AIG of Police Headquarters (PHQs) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has been appointed as the new chief of CID.
Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General (DIG-Special Branch) of police Biswas Afzal Hossain was also promoted as AIG and transferred to Police Headquarters.
