Shafique Pahari of Jamuna Television earned the triple crowns in the Walton Media Cup Badminton that concluded at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder MP was the chief guest at the day’s closing function of the three-day meet and later he distributed the prizes.
Shafique Pahari, who clinched the men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles crown, was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
Final results of the five events:
Men’s singles: champion-Shafique Pahari (Jamuna TV), runner-up- Maksudul Nabi (Channel 24);
Women’s Singles: champion-Shamima Mitu (Dainik Samakal), runner-up- Sharli Shisir (Jamuna TV),
Men’s Doubles: champion- Shafique Pahari & Manjur Morshed (Jamuna TV), runners-up- Ashraful Haque & Tushar Kanti Das (Maasranga TV).
Women’s Doubles: champion-Nahid Tonmoy & Shamima Mitu (Samakal), runners-up- Roxana Amin & Afrina Athoi (Channel 1).
Mixed Doubles: champion- Shafique Pahari & Sharli Shisir (Jamuna TV), runners-up-Biplobuddin Bhuiyan & Farhana Lopa (Independent TV).
A total of 23 media houses took part in the three-day meet.
