Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
After 10 months, legendary film actor Shbanam has returned to Bangladesh from Pakistan. Basically at the end of 2020, she went to Pakistan to take part in several numbers of TV shows and to perform as a model in a TV commercial. This legendary actor worked in Pakistan’s film industry for many years. She was scheduled to return to Bangladesh in current year’s June. Due to lockdown both in Pakistan and Bangladesh for increasing coronavirus pandemic she could not return to Bangladesh during that time. All flights were canceled in Pakistan in this regard. At last, after many complexities, Shabnam returned to Bangladesh end
of last month. She is now staying at her residence in Dhaka’s Baridhara’s Park Road. While sharing her feelings about staying in Pakistan for 10 months Shabnam told this correspondent, “In fact, in Bangladesh, my only son Roni is staying here. Except him, I have none close to me in the country now. My only sister
is living in Kolkata. I didn’t see her for many years. Due to corona pandemic, I couldn’t go to Kolkata to meet her. I had maternal uncle who also died. Though I went to Pakistan for works but it was really intolerable to stay there for long time without any reason. I was eagerly awaited when I would return to my country. After starting flights, I got the opportunity to return to Bangladesh. I feel really good after returning my country,
my home. My only son Roni is taking care of me now.”
Shabnam also said, “When I was in Pakistan, I got many offers to work in new movies. But I always said that I will agree to work in film if its story and my character are likeable to me. I think there is no retirement in life of actors. They can continue acting before their death if their physical condition remains well and support everything. If I get good story, I will surely work.”
Shabnam last acted in Kazi Hayat’s movie Aammajan. Later, she did not see to work in any other movie. Her husband Robin Ghosh was a noted music composer and director. In the beginning of her career, Shabnam acted by name of Jhorna in films Asia, E Desh Tomar Aamar, Kokhono Asheni, Tanha, Bishkonnya, etc. But as a heroine, she first acted in Mustafiz directed movie Harano Din, which was released in 1961.
