On April 22, Bangladesh Film Artistes Association organises an Iftar Mahfil
at a convention hall in the capital’s Moghbazar area. Living legend of the country’s film industry, veteran actress Shabnam is going to attend the Iftar. For the first time, she will attend Film Artistes Association’s calling any event. Shabnam herself confirmed the matter on Wednesday. She informed that on behalf of Film Artistes Association, she got the invitation and President of the Association Ilias Kanchan invited her to attend the programme.
Shabnam said, “I am the Life Member of Bangladesh Film Artistes Association. Last 24 years I have been staying in Bangladesh. After returns to country, I acted only in Kazi Hayat’s a movie. Then I couldn’t get any offer to act in an original story based movie. So, I didn’t work later. Now I am passing days at home silently. I watch news, different shows, dramas and movies on television channels. By this way I have been passing my days. Every time Film Artistes Association invited me to attend their Iftar Mahfil but I couldn’t manage time. But this time I got their invitation cordially, so I have psychologically decided to attend the programme. I give thanks to Ilias Kanchan. I hope after many years, I will meet many artistes there.”
Nacher Putul famed this legendary actress is still waiting to act in good story based movies. In Ashok Ghosh directed movie Nacher Putul, Shabnam acted opposite Razzak. Song Aynate oi much dekhbe jokhon of that movie was used in lip of Razzak. In her long career, Shabnam acted in many Pakistani movies. For acting in movies, she got the highest number (11 times) of Nigar Awards. But she is very much eager to act in Bangladeshi movies.
