Staff Reporter :Shab-e-Qadr, also known as Laylat-ul-Qadr, was observed all over the country on Tuesday night with great religious zeal and gaiety.People offered night long prayers and recited holy Quran in Mosques and their homes to celebrate the Shab-e-Qadr.Moreover, they visited graveyards of their relatives and Muslim saints.Shab-e-Qadr, celebrated on the 27th night of Ramzan every year, is the anniversary of two important dates in Islam. The first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SM) during this night and it is also the anniversary of the night in which Holy Quran was revealed in its entirety to angel Jibril. Thousands of people offered prayers at night at the Baitul Mukarram Mosque in the capital. Similar congregations were held in different mosques across the country. The devotees prayed for peace in the country and well being of people. The night is considered the most blessed of all the nights of the year. President M Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Leader of the Opposition Raushan Ershad and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia greeted the countrymen and the Muslims across the world on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Qadr. In separate messages they prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah. The President, in his message, greeted the Muslims in Bangladesh and throughout the world on the holy occasion. He said the holy Shab-e-Qadr is superior to thousand nights and it’s very sacred and full of virtues for mankind.In a separate message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “I pray to the Almighty Allah for continued progress, peace and welfare of our beloved motherland and the Muslim Ummah on this holy night,” she added.
