The Seventh Five Year Plan (SFYP),already adopted by the present government, has given special emphasis on setting up low carbon industry and waste management to implement the 3R strategy for ensuring the use of natural resources in production oriented activities, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has said.
“The Bangladesh government has undertaken various projects and programmes to implement the 3R strategy – reducing wastes of the industrial garbage and raw materials, re-using these and taking up strategy for recycling the industrial garbage,” he said.
The minister said this while presiding over a session on country report evaluation titled “Country Major Achievements and Initiatives on Implementation of Ha Noi 3R Declaration-2013-2023” as part of the 7th Regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific, a message received on Saturday said.
The session was held at Adelaide conversion centre in Australia. During the session, representatives of Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Kyrgyzstan, Samua and Thailand presented their respective development reports.
Amu also laid emphasis on skilled workforce and infrastructural development to implement the 3R strategy in Asia and the Pacific region with a view to drastically reducing industrial pollution in respective countries.
