Weekend Plus Report :
Like last year the second season of Sfuron ‘Sfuron 2.0’ was organised by BUP Photography Society at BUP premises from July 24 to 25 with print media partner The New Nation and radio partner Radio Foorti. Sfuron means to unfold or to bloom. The main theme of Sfuron is to unfold the talent of the students of BUP photography, art and music. So, the event was not different from its theme. But it was better than last year. All the members of the club worked hard to make this event successful. The photo and art exhibition was held in the lower plaza of the campus.
About 285 artwork and photographs were submitted for the exhibition and only 105 were selected. Here every type of artwork was accepted, there were sketches, watercolors, poster color etc. It’s not the end the club members made a story with those artworks. Some artworks said some untold stories of the society. The formations of the artworks were done in a way that it was telling a story. The same thing was done with the photographs.
The photography section was divided into two parts, one was for camera photography and another one was mobile photography. There were different types of photographs like street, portrait, macro etc.
All the photographs were organised in the same way as the artworks. The photographs were also telling a story. The event started July 24 at 10:00am and was inauguration by the Vice Chancellor of BUP Maj Gen Md Emdad-Ul-Bari, ndc, psc. The event was open for all. The visitors were satisfied to see such well-organised event. There was a corner for the clubs where BUPPS showcased the photos of the events of the clubs, where BUPPS was their documentation partner.
It was a 2-day event, the first day was for exhibition and the second day was exhibition and acoustic night. The first day ended with a lot of people visiting the exhibition.A photography workshop was organized at Bijoy Auditorium and it was taken by Farhan Sami and Shafayet Turash. Both of them were the founding members and pioneers of BUPPS.
The second day 25 July was Thursday. As it was day before weekend the numbers of visitors was more than the first day. The number started to increase as time passed.
The judges also visited the exhibition and saw the artworks and photographs. The place got crowded in the evening with the bustling of students from all the departments. The seniors from previous batches, who passed from the institution, were invited and they received the invitation and came to enjoy the event. The visitors were waiting for the acoustic night.
The acoustic night started just after the prize giving ceremony. The students of the institution participated in the event. An audition event was arranged before the event to ensure a quality event. In the musical event the participants had to use unplugged instruments. There were no chairs to sit.
The audiences had to sit on the floor to enjoy the event. It’s a new trend of a musical show in BUP. The audiences enjoyed the musical event.
The event was closed by the Pro-VC of BUP Prof M Abul Kashem Mozumder, PhD. The President of BUPPS Md Rakibul Islam Tamzid said, “BUPPS is not just a club it’s a family. The credit goes to the BUP authority, club moderator, club members and the people who came to the event. I hope that the club will arrange event like Sfuron and so on in the future.” n
