Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has said that the severity of dengue has declined significantly in the capital.
The DSCC mayor revealed this information while sharing experience of his recent Singapore tour at Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday.
He said, “I declared in August that the dengue situation will be under control in the first week of
September. But it is not that the dengue situation has been under full control at this moment.”
“The severity of dengue in the capital has declined significantly, although it is prevailing in other parts of the country. But the situation of dengue is under control,” he added.
The Mayor said, “Dhaka South City Corporation has been spraying aerosol at the city’s schools free of cost with the aim of protecting students from mosquito bites and keep dengue fever in check.”
“Calling upon school students and scouts to work together to motivate the city dwellers to destroy mosquito breeding sources,” he said.
He said mobile teams of the Dhaka South City Corporation are working in the city to inspect the dengue situation.
Since January 1 till September 18, a total of 82,990 people were affected by dengue, most of them in Dhaka. Of them, 80,427 fully recovered, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 536 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday.
