Dhanmondi murder: Several wounds found at victims’ bodies, necks Probe body formed

A probe committee comprising three members has been formed to look into the murder of an elderly woman and her maid at their flat in the city’s Dhanmondi on Saturday.
Prof Sohel Mahmud, Head of Forensic Medicine Department of Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH), Lecturers Kabir Sohel and Pradip Biswas, are the members of the probe committee.
The autopsies of the dead bodies were done at DMCH morgue on Saturday and thereafter bodies were handed to the victim’s family.
According to the autopsy report, the victims had several wounds in their bodies and their necks bore signs of slitting.
Earlier on Friday, police recovered the bodies of Afroza Begum and her maid Dithi with their throats slit at a flat on the fourth floor of a five-storey building in Dhanmondi.
Meanwhile, Police arrested six persons, including the building’s security guard, Nuruzzaman, generator operator, Belayet, and Bachchu, a domestic help of Afroza’s son-in-law, for questioning about the killings, Ashfaque Razib Hasan, Inspector (Investigation) of Dhanmondi police station, said.
