Four persons were injured at the city’s Hatirjheel on Monday night when a car smashed into a bridge railing and fell in to the ditch.
“I stood opposite the bridge around 10:15pm, suddenly heard a huge sound and after then noises of people. I and other pedestrians then rushed there and found a black color car in rammed condition. The front side galss has been totally broken. We recovered the injured people from the car and sent to hospital,” said Ahmed Ali, an eye witness of the incident.
Fire Service officials said, the car rammed into the Mahanagar Bridge 2 and damaged a portion of the railing before hurtling down to the ditch.
Ataur Rahman, an official of the Fire Service Control Room told a group of journalists that the fire crew who went to the area after hearing about the accident found the car only at the scene. The impact of the crash was so severe that the car was almost unrecognisable.
Kazi Shahan Haque, Inspector of Rampura Police Station, said four persons, including a woman, were injured in the accident.
The injured were being treatment of Dhaka Community Medical College Hospital at Moghbazar in the city.
