Police in separate drives on Sunday night arrested seven persons in connection with a murder in the capital’s Dhanmondi residential area.
The arrested have been identified as mastermind Mehedi Hasan, his accomplices Md Sharif Hossain, Md Emon, Md Hasan Ahmed, Md Ashif Iqbal alias Anik, Md Amit Hasan and Md Washif Ullah alias Gaurav.
Police also recovered the mobile phone handset of the victim Jisan from the possession of the detained persons.
Md Mashrukur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of DB, said that the plain-clothes police personnel conducted drives at night and arrested the seven accused of the case from different areas in the capital.
In primary interrogation, they confessed to killing Jisan, the police official said.
Police had sought 10-day remand for each of the accused, he said.
On May 12, miscreants attacked one Aminul Islam Jisan and left him seriously injured near the Dhanmondi Lake. He was admitted to Bangladesh Medical Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries two days later.
Victim’s father filed a case with Dhanmondi Police Station on May 14 in this connection.
