Seven food and consumer shops were fined Taka 3.60 lakh here on Monday on charges of manufacturing and selling unhygienic and sub-standard food items.
A team of Department of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) conducted a raid in BSCIC Industrial Estate and found Padma Food Industries, Zibon Chemical and Food Industries, Bishal Food, Noor Bakery, Shahi Semoy, Kundu Bakery and Modern Food guilty of preparing, possessing and selling food and other consumer items in unhygienic condition.
Executive Magistrate Sharif Ashif Rahman led the mobile court.
Subsequently, the team fined Tk 3.60 the seven shop owners and realized the fine instantly. Hassan Al Maruf, Assistant Director of DNCRP, said such drive against the violations of consumers’ rights will be continued in the days ahead.
