The seven municipalities in three hill districts- Khagrachhari, Rangamati and Bandarban, have failed to ensure proper water supply to the dwellers. Mayor of Khagrachhari Municipality Md Rafiqul Alam said this in a workshop which was held at Khagrachhari Municipality on Sunday noon.
Mayor Md Rafiqul Alam said, “The authorities of 321 municipalities in 61 plain districts are entitled to serve water to its citizens through pipeline.
All 321 municipalities are getting huge allocation from Urban Governance Infrastructures Improvement Project (UGIIP) to ensure proper water supply to their citizens. But around 3 lakh citizens of Khagrachhari, Matiranga, Ramgorh, Rangamati, Baghaichhari, Bandarban and Lama municipalities are deprived of these facilities as the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) has failed to ensure the proper water supply to the citizens due to their poor services.”
