Police arrested seven members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team from Faridganj upazila of Chandpur district on Saturday.
Jihadul Kabir, Superintendent of Chandpur Police, organized a press briefing in this regard on Sunday (October 21).
The detainees were identified as Md Kawsar Hamid, 19, from Faridganj upazila, Mahmudur Rahman, 24, of Cumilla, Md Rashedul Islam, 25, from Narayanganj sadar, Kamrul Hasan, 27, from Mymensingh, Niyamat Ullah, 26, from Kishoreganj, Md Habibur Rahman 30, from Tangail, and Fazlul Karim, 30, from Brahmanbaria.
Harun Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Faridganj Police Station told the media that acting on an information, law enforcement arrested them from the house of Saudi expatriate Mohammad Abu Rayhan at Uttar Keroa village where they were reportedly holding a secret meeting. Two laptops, two pen drives, and six mobile phones were also seized from them, OC said.
