SEU observes Tagore’s 75th Death Anniv

Department of English, Southeast University (SEU) paid homage to Poet Rabindranath Tagore at his 75th Death Anniversary program on Saturday. The program was held at the Seminar Hall, Main Campus of SEU at Banani in the capital.
Vice Chancellor of SEU Prof Anwar Hossain was the chief guest at the program while Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury was the special guest. Prof Emeritus Dr M Shamsher Ali was present as the guest of honor.
The program started with a chorus on ‘Anonode loke’, group dance on ‘Mour bhabonare’, recitation on ‘Balaka’, song on ‘Dariye acho tumi amar gaaner opare’, recitation on ‘Shesher Kabita’, dance on ‘Ami chini go chini tomare’ and recitation with a dance performance.
Prof Dr M Shamsher Ali highlighted on the vast contribution to literature and culture of Rabindranath Tagore.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury emphasized on songs and poems of Rabindranath Tagore that still inspires us immensely.
Vice Chancellor of SEU Prof Anwar Hossain recited a poem on ‘Balaka’.
Chairman and Associate Professor of English Department Harunur Rashid Khan also recited a poem on ‘Shesher Kabita’.
Senior Lecturer of English Department Tazin Ahmed was the organizer to groom the participants for the program.
Registrar, Deans, chief Coordinator of SU BOT, chairmen, faculties, staff and students were present on the occasion.
