A Chandpur court on Wednesday convicted serial killer Rasu Kha and sentenced him to death in a case filed for killing a female garment worker after rape in 2008.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Arunav Chakraborti handed down the verdict. According to the prosecution, Rasu took Shahida, a garment worker hailed from Khulna, to Bhatialganj in Faridganj and strangled her to death after raping her on December 17, 2008. Later
he dumped the body in the Dakatia river.
Rasu Khan confessed that he had killed 11 women as a girl rejected his marriage proposal 15 years ago when he was in Tongi. He vowed to kill 101 women when hired goons of the family members of that girl tortured him.
Rasu was first arrested on September 3 in connection with stealing 10-12 fans from a mosque in Gazipur.
Rasu, now in jail, was wanted in 10 cases filed with Chandpur and Faridganj Police Stations.
