A pregnant woman and two children were killed and eight others injured when a septic tank of a building exploded in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj on Friday morning.
The incident took place around 6:00am in Dighirpar Mollabari of Narayanganj city in the morning.
The victims were identified as Laboni Akhter, 30,
pregnant wife of one Humayun Kabir, and two sons Khorshed Alam Masnun, 13, and Jisan, 8.
Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station confirmed the matter to the media and said that a septic tank installed under a four-storey apartment building at Dighirpar Mollarbari exploded around 6am on Friday. At least four other adjacent buildings were also damaged in the blast, OC added.
Two children died on the spot, while the woman died on way to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, OC also said.
After the incident, Bandar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shukla Sarkar visited the scene and asked the residents of the damaged buildings to take shelter elsewhere for the time being.
