Mohammad Faizur Rahman Chowdhury, Secretary of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said that the commission might constitute a separate unit to carry out inquiry against influential people.
He said this while briefing newsmen in the commission’s media centre on Monday.
“ACC is investigating some complaints involving several female members of the parliament, who reportedly amassed huge wealth dishonestly. If the commission finds specific evidence against them, it will take
lawful action. A separate unit may be constituted to make the investigation quickly”, ACC secretary said without disclosing the names of the female MPs.
Talking about Rana Plaza collapse, he said that the investigation was at the last phase.
Faizur Rahman said, ACC has already held talks with the Education Ministry and requested it to incorporate a chapter titled ‘anti-corruption’ in the textbooks for creating awareness among students. He said, the Education Minister assured them to consider their request.
He said, the ACC formed around 21,000 ‘integrity units’ in different schools, colleges, madrasahs and other educational institutions across the country to create the sense of honesty and sincerity among the students.
The secretary said, the country is now getting the positive result of the integrity units as the young generation has started to voice against the corruption.
The ACC secretary said, the Commission is going to obverse the ‘Corruption Prevention Week 2014’ from March 26 to April 1. ACC Chairman M Badiuzzaman will formally inaugurate the week.
