A proposal for creation of a separate division for Bangladesh Police force under the ministry of home affairs will be placed to the Prime Minister in the annual Police Week-2014 to be held in the first week of March.
The officials demand formation of Police Forces Division (PFD) under the Ministry of Home Affairs like the Armed Forces Division under Ministry of Defence.
They will also demand for appointment of a secretary for the PFD from police force. Different ministries now control their promotion, transfer and purchase.
They will demand rewards from the Prime Minister for contribution to successfully helping hold the 10th parliamentary election
The Police Forces Division (PFD) will help the police department grow stronger and vigilant against crime. Many development projects of the police department face unnecessary bureaucratic query.
The Public Administration recruits the police officers from ASP level while police constables to Sub-Inspectors
(SI) are recruited by under police Headquarter. The police administration is, as such, unable to take any action against the corrupt BCS (Police) cadre police officials.
The authorities delayed the holding of the annual police week-2014 for the parliamentary election.
The annual programme of the police forces is usually held in January and it is sometimes held in February each year to reward the members of its different units for their ‘rigorous contributions’ to the country in the past year.
Out of about 1.50 lakh police force, the authorities every year award on an average 75 members during police week from the constable to the rank of additional inspector general from all units of the force including Rapid Action Battalion, Criminal Investigation Department and Special Branch.
