Staff ReporterHeavily fortified bunker like sentry posts made with sand bags have been set up in front of different police stations across the city to prevent any possible terrorist attack. The police personnel are now guarding police stations taking position inside these security posts wielding their automatic weapons. Specially, the police stations under the jurisdictions of Mirpur Division have already been brought under special protective measures. Other police stations of the city have started the process to beef up their security. Senior police officials said they have taken such precautionary steps after getting alert from intelligence agencies. According to sources, the intelligence agencies recently sent reports to the government apprehending terror attack on the police stations and other security establishments.”We think, the BNP-Jamaat activists and their supports may attack on police personnel. So, special security measures have taken at all police stations in the city, ” said a senior official of Mirpur Division. He said: “The people who visit thana have been brought under close surveillance. Even, the police are interrogating suspected persons.”Apart from it, the police have set up several check posts on roads in different parts of the city. Besides, close circuit cameras have been installed in front of police stations. Officer-in Charge of Pallabi Police Station Md Ziauzzaman said that sentry post has been set up in front of his police station for the same reason. Insiders said, preventive measures have been taken by the police department following a cautionary directive issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia. The DMP Chief recently at a function said the police are now victims of hartal and blockades where several law enforcers were injured and one was killed. Officer-in Charge of Mipur Model Police Station said they have set up sentry post for the safety of the police personnel.
