Dhaka Abahani Limited earned a sensational one-wicket win over Gazi Group Cricketers in their Super League match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Monday.
Dhaka Abahani Limited gained 20 points from 13 matches, while Gazi Group Cricketers earned 14 points 12 matches.
Chasing Gazi Group Cricketers’ fighting total of 130 off 19.1 overs, Dhaka Abahani Limited reached the winning target making 131 for the loss of nine wickets when they had just one ball to spare.
One-down Najmul Hossain Shanto of Dhaka Abahani Limited hit a marvelous 58. His 49-ball innings was decorated with two sixes and four fours.
Opener Liton Das hit 22 from 17 balls featuring three fours.
Afif Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim added 14 and 12 runs respectively to the Abahani Limited total.
Mukidul Islam of Gazi Group Cricketers grabbed three wickets at the cost of 38 runs, while Mahmudullah Riyad and Mehedi Hasan bagged two wickets each for 19 and 22 runs respecyively.
Nasum Ahmed got one wicket conceding 25 runs.
Earlier, opener Soumya Sarkar of Gazi Group Cricketers hit a fine 30. His 24-ball innings was ornamented with two fours and two sixes.
One-down Zakir Hasan made 27 from 25 balls featuring four fours.
Mominul Haque struck a windy 25. His 12-ball knock was laced with five fours.
Mahmudullah Riyad and Yasir Ali added 16 and 12 runs respectively to the Gazi Group total.
Mohammad Saifuddin of Dhaka Abahani Limited was his team’s most successful bowler. He captured four wickets at the cost of 18 runs. Saifuddin was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Mehedi Hasan Rana grabbed three wickets instead of 32 runs, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib bagged two wickets in the space of 13 runs.
Mosaddek Hossain took one wicket for 27 runs.
