Seminar on World Environ Day held at DU

A seminar was held on the theme of World Environment Day-2015 (WED) ‘Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care’ at Geography and Environment Department in Dhaka University.
Department of Geography and Environment in Dhaka University organized the Seminar on Thursday with its chairman Dr M Abdur Rob in the chair.
Students displayed some projects in the light of this year’s theme particularly on Sustainable means for tackling oil spillages in the context of Sundarbans, Initiatives to make Dhaka as a Climate Smart City, Alternative resource management with eco-friendly manner, FGD system for Heavy Metal Removal and Recycling in industry and sustainable & eco-friendly roads for Dhaka city.
Dr M Abdur Rob announced that as a consecutive event of the World Environment Day, the Department of Geography and Environment is going to organize the 3rd “National Environment Olympiad on 29th August 2015 for the students of school, college and University.
In order to bring more dynamism into our event, we have included Art, Oral Presentation and Essay Competitions as well, he said.
The seminar was also addressed, among others, by Prof Dr Hafiza Khatun, Prof Dr AQM Mahbub, Prof Dr Nurul Islam Nazem and Prof Dr Towhida Rashid.
