University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a seminar titled ‘US Elections and the Implications for Bangladesh’ recently at its Dhanmondi Campus. Ms. Andrea Brouillette-Rodriguez, Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs at the US Embassy in Dhaka, and Ms. Nancy VanHorn, Press Officer of the US Embassy in Dhaka, were the key speakers for the event. Ms. Juditha Ohlmacher, Member, ULAB Board of Trustees also addressed the students and moderated the session.
ULAB students were very inquisitive about the upcoming election in the United States. They asked various questions to the speakers about the election process, the candidates, and how the elections could affect ongoing US-Bangladesh relations. In particular the unique candidacy of both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump was remarked on.
ULAB Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman delivered the vote of thanks. ULAB Professor Emeritus Rafiqul Islam; ULAB Board of Trustees Members Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed, Kazi Nabil Ahmed MP, Ms. Taheerah Haq; ULAB Provost Professor Brian Shoesmith; ULAB Treasurer Prof Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee; ULAB Registrar Professor Akhtar Ahmed; Professor Jude William Genilo, Head of Media Studies and Journalism; Prof Shamsad Mortuza, Head of English and Humanities; Prof Muhammad Ibrahim, Head of General Education; faculty members; admin members and students of ULAB were present in the programme.
