Seminar on `Trauma Caused by Terrorism` held at BUP

Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organized a seminar on ‘Trauma Caused by Terrorism’ was held on Sunday by the initiative of Faculty of Medical Studies and Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies at Bijoy Auditorium of its campus.
This seminar was jointly organized by BUP and RAHETID. Prof. Dr. AFM Ruhul Haque, MP, former Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was present as the chief guest while Maj Gen Md Fashiur Rahman, ndc, Commandant, Armed Forces Medical College and Vice-Chancellor of BUP Maj Gen Md Salahuddin Miaji, rcds, psc were present as special guest. In the programme Shafi Ahmed Phd, FRCS (Gen. Surg), Royal College of Surgeons of England and Prof. Dr. Raquibul Anwar, FRCS, President and CEO, RAHETID were present as keynote speakers. Lt Col Md. Rabiul Alam (Retd), Acting Dean, FSSS chaired the programme while Assistant Professor Abdullah Shahnewaz anchored the programme.
Speakers say in their speech that terrorism has become a threat to life, the economy and political and religious pluralism in Bangladesh. Political violence, assassinations of religious personnel and bombings in public places of festivity have stunned the country.
Terrorism can have a particularly devastating impact on psychological functioning. It carries with it a potentially greater impact than other disasters on distress responses, behavioral change, and psychiatric illness by virtue of the unique characteristics of terrorism events.
Pro-VC Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO, BUP High Officials, Faculty Members, invited guests were also present at the programme.
