A day-long seminar on “Terrorism and Counter Terrorism: Bangladesh Perspective” was held at National Defence College (NDC) at Mirpur Cantonment in the city on Monday.
Former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General M Nuruddin Khan, psc (Retd) addressed the seminar as the chief guest while Ambassador (Retd) and President and CEO of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) Farooq Sobhan was present as special guest, an Inter Service Public Relations(ISPR) release said.
Major General K M Abdur Rahman, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International & Strategic Studies (BIISS), acted the seminar as session chair while Lieutenant General Chowdhury Hasan Sarwardy, Commandant of NDC, inaugurated it at the NDC auditorium.
A total of 78 participants of National Defence Course-2016, which included 26 senior military officials from 12 friendly countries and 35 course members of Armed Forces War Course-2016, attended the seminar, the release said.
A nominated group of course members of Armed Forces War Course had presented well-researched keynote papers on “Terrorism and Counter Terrorism:
Bangladesh Perspective”.
Brigadier General Shahedul Anam Khan (Retd), Director General of RAB Benazir Ahmed and Director of CTIB, DGFI Brigadier General Mohammad Towhid-ul-Islam had also presented their papers.
Lieutenant General M Nuruddin Khan, in his closing address, stated various important aspects of terrorism in Bangladesh as the chief guest.
The chief guest and special guest appreciated the NDC for taking the initiative of organising a seminar on such an important contemporary issues in the country.
Among others, eminent intellectuals and personalities from both military and civil societies were present on the occasion.
