Seminar on research in Public Health at DIU

Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University organized the seminar on “Importance of Research in Public Health” Daffodil International University (DIU) Auditorium on Friday.
Prof Brigadier (Rtd.) Dr Abdul Malek, National Prof of Bangladesh and Founder of National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute was present at the seminar as chief guest. Prof Dr Amirul Hassan, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) was present as special guest.
Prof Dr M. Golam Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Acting Vice Chancellor), DIU presided over the seminar. While Dr Hrishikesh Chakroborty, Associate Prof and Director of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, Biostatistics Collaborative Research Core, University of South California, USA was presented the key-note paper in the seminar.
Speakers at the seminar said that the development of new medical treatments would not happen without public health research. Behind every discovery of a new medicine and treatment, contribution of public health research is unparallel. New drugs, new ways to treat old and new illness and new ways to prevent diseases in people at risk of developing them, can only result from public health research.
The seminar was also addressed by Prof Dr Ahmad Ismail Mustafa, Dean, of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, and Dr Md Shahjahan, Head, Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University.
