Seminar on ‘Promoting responsible digital practices’ held

The National Seminar on Promoting Responsible Digital Practices has been held at a hotel in the city. The seminar showcased various research information, knowledge and educational materials to help young people in a secure digital environment.
It also had a vibrant discussion about the challenges that young people face in the online world as well as exercising the freedom of expression.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Aminul Islam Khan, Ambassador & Head of Delegation of the Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Dhaka Md Shahidul Islam and Additional Secretary of the ICT Division Dr Khandoker Azizul Islam graced the event with their astute remarks in the seminar.
Apart from this, more than 120 notable persons from different sectors including university faculty members, students, journalists, researchers, lawyers, members of the CSOs, INGOs, GOs, law enforcing agencies, corporate organizations and so on joined the program.
Dnet organized the seminar as a part of its project “Foster Responsible Digital Citizenship to Promote Freedom of Expression in Bangladesh”, which is co-funded by European Union and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF Bangladesh). Under this project, Dnet has connected 5 reputed universities and continues to raise awareness among 5,000 students in Dhaka and Rajshahi. The three years’ long project has connected more than 50,000 digital citizens through online learning portals (www.digitalcitizenbd.com), social media platforms and publicity at universities.
From Dnet Niaz Islam Arif, Elma Hoque, Ashik Mahmud and others; and from FNF Bangladesh Wolfgang Heinze, Dr Najmul Hossain, Salwa Jahan, Fabian Ismat and others took part in the seminar.
