Dhaka University (DU) in collaboration with Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, United Nations Information Center (UNIC) in Dhaka and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) Vienna, Austria organized a seminar on “Mobilizing Youth to Combat Drugs for a Healthy Lifestyle” at the Nobab Nowab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university on Wednesday. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique presided over the seminer.
UNODC Executive Director and Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov presented the key-note paper at the seminar while Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs and Shahidul Haque, Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present on the occasion as guests of honour.
UNODC Executive Director and Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov mentioned that Bangladesh as a huge potentials with a large number of young population. He said that youths of Bangladesh can play an important role in combating and drugs for a healthy life. Youths can contribute significantly towards building a prosperous and economically vibrant country.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique in his speech expressed deep concern about drug abuse. He urged the youths to keep themselves away from all sorts of drugs and maintain a healthy lifestyle to take the country forward.
