The first international conference on Medical Engineering, Health Informatics and Technology (MediTec 2016) was held on the United International University (UIU) campus on Saturday.
The theme of the conference was “Smart Systems for Healthcare.”
Director General of Directorate General of Health Services Professor Abul Kalam Azad was present at the programme as the Chief Guest while Vice Chancellor of United International University Professor M Rezwan Khan presided over it.
Director and Joint Secretary of National Disabled Development Foundation under the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr M Anwarullah, and Joint Chief of Health and Family Welfare Ministry Dr Mohiuuddin Osmani addressed the programmes as Special Guests.
MediTec brings together researchers, engineers, medical practitioners and experts contributing mainly in the area of biomedical engineering and health informatics. The conference received 103 papers by distinguished professionals from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Finland, India, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, USA, United Arab Emirates, and United Kingdom.
Dr Abul Kalam Azad emphasized the importance of such a conference to reduce the gap between medical and engineering fields and strengthen multidisciplinary biomedical engineering research and help disseminate real life applications to improve healthcare and disabilities in Bangladesh.
Professor M Rezwan Khan hoped that Bangladesh would be benefited significantly from the outcome of this conference through the ideas through sharing and dissemination of bright research ideas and outcomes at MediTec 2016.
