Seminar on maritime resources for sustainable blue economy held

A seminar on “Legal Regime at Sea and Governance of Maritime Resources for Sustainable Blue Economy” jointly organized by Faculty of Maritime Governance and Policy (FMGP), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, Bangladesh (BSMRMU) and Blue Economy Cell, Energy and Mineral Resources Division at the auditorium of International Mother Language Institutes, says a press release.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP graced the seminar as chief guest while Chairman of National Maritime Foundation, India Admiral R. K. Dhowan (Retd) was special guests in the seminar. Vice Chancellor of BSMRMU Rear Admiral A S M Abdul Baten chaired in the seminar.
The objective of the seminar is to raise awareness among the stakeholders on exploring and exploiting legal rights of maritime resources and its management for sustainable blue economy and to infuse knowledge into researchers, faculties and students of maritime & allied fields.
Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman from Department of Law, University of Dhaka, Chairman of Ananda Group Dr. Abdullahel Bari and Admiral R. K. Dhowan (Retd) from India were the key note speakers of the seminar.
Besides, Commodore A Mamun Chowdhury, (N), psc, BN from Blue Economy Cell, Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Xin Teng, PhD, Associate Professor of National Ocean Technology Centre (NOTC), China and Dr. Lailufar Yasmin, Dept of International Relations, University of Dhaka also presented their papers in the seminar.
A number of proposals had been discussed regarding title of the seminar. Proposals were put forwarded to create a combined plan in order to develop the maritime sector involving maritime stake holders which will contribute to our economy by developing “Blue-Economy” by exploration and exploitation of our new wide sea areas and its resources.
