Seminar on ethical development at DIU

Daffodil International University (DIU) organized a seminar on “Social Awareness and Ethical Development of students” on Monday at 71 Milonayoton organized by Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment of the university.
Advocate Sultana Kamal, Chairperson of the Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) and Country’s renowned Social Worker was present in the seminar as keynote speaker. The seminar was presided over by Prof Dr Md. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Chairman, Complaint Committee to prevent sexual harassment while Prof Dr Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor and Prof Dr SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor of DIU were present as guests of honor.
Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, Prof Dr Engr AKM Fazlul Hoque, Registrar, Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Students’ Affairs, Irina Ishrat, Assistant Professor and Committee Member, Complaint Committee to prevent sexual harassment were also present and spoke at the seminar.
Addressing as the keynote speaker Advocate Sultana Kamal said, one of our major aim of Liberation War was to build a gender discrimination free society. But it’s a matter of regret that after passing a long period of independence, yet, we couldn’t implement that cherished goal.
That’s why we need to self-analysis. Advocate Sultana Kamal said, we have to make it clear first the sense about our demand that where we want to go with our beloved country and this sense will be clear by self-analysis.
She also said, Bangladeshi women are showing success in various sectors. The success story of our women is known to all around the world.
On the other hand, it is also talk of the world that our country is also proactive in women violence. She said through statistical information that 87 percent women of Bangladesh are victim of family violence still now. To overcome this situation it requires social awareness and ethical development. Prof Dr Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, Prof Dr SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder and Hamidul Haque Khan also spoke on gender equality, social awareness, ethics and so many topics at the seminar. The seminar was concluded through a question-answer session.
