Seminar on domestic help held in Rangpur

Pallishree and Netz Bangladesh, a non-governmental organization, have been working for a long time to establish and promote the human rights of the people in the north-western part of Bangladesh.
The organization is working with the greater civil society, governmental and non-governmental organizations and policy makers to establish the social, political and economic rights of marginalized communities, including women and indigenous peoples, and to prevent any form of oppression and violence against them.
A national seminar on our role and responsibility in preventing violence against women and girls has been held. Rangpur City Corporation Mayor Md. Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa inaugurated the day-long national seminar at Tourism Motel on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan was present as the guest of honor.
The speakers said that we need to give opportunities to increase the access of women in social, political and economic spheres. Social and economic development will be accelerated only if women have access to all fields. Women’s domestic labor should also be viewed with respect. We want to build a society where injustice cannot be tolerated. It is the responsibility of all of us to create a conducive work environment for women, otherwise women will be averse to work. We need to change the way we work, increase our sense of responsibility and create public awareness. Not only that, we also need to ensure that a woman can work safely in her home and workplace.Also present among others were Rangpur Additional Deputy Commissioner Education and ICT Shahnahaj Parveen District Legal Aid Officer and Senior Assistant George Md. Minhazur Rahman, Manab Kalyan Parishad Executive Director Rabiul Azam, Netz’s Advocacy Co-ordinator Mausumi Biswas, Program Manager Sarang Manager Selim Reza, Manager Gender Justice and Training Shamsun Nahar and others.
Conducted by Shamim Ara Begum, Executive Director of Pallishree. The concept paper of the seminar was presented by Afsana Binte Amin, Program Manager of Netz Bangladesh. Berobi Gender Justice Lecturer Lubna Akhter, Dr. Samarpita Ghosh Tania, Khandaker Fakhrul Anam Benju, Reeb Executive Director Dr. Meghna Guha Thakurta were present as speakers on the occasion.
