A seminar on early preparedness and creating awareness among the common people to reduce risk of natural disaster organized by district administration held at local circuit house here on Tuesday .
Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi Abu Hena Morshed Zaman inaugurated the seminar as chief guest with Additional Deputy commissioner (General) Khandaker Nural Hoque in the chair. Additional Police Super Zakir Hossain Mojumdar addressed the seminar as special guest.
District Relief and Rehabilitation officer Siddiqur Rahman delivered the welcome speech while Additional Deputy Commissioner presented key note on the aims and object of the seminar. He also discussed on the role of district disaster management committee and presented video film on disaster preparedness. Among others, Chairman of Raipura Upazila parishad Mijanur Rahman Chowdhury, Nirbahi Officer Sadar upazila Motakabbir Ahmed, former principal of Narsingdi government college Mohammad Ali,lecturer of Narsingdi government college Snigdha boul,RMO Sadar hospitlDr aminul Hoque Samim, Secretary of Red crescent Narsingdi unit, Abdus Satter,Assistant Director fire Service an Civil Defence Mijanur Rahman and executive of Mohila unnayan Sangastha Monira Begum addressed
The speakers said Bangladesh a disaster prone country and also in the risk of newly added earth quake and lightning strike as it situated the seismic zone, high population, density, unplanned urbanization, faulty construction of building has intensified the risk of causalities.
They put importance on the essence for adequate preparation and educating the common people on disaster preparedness and post disaster management and advance for reducing risk and minimizing losses during natural calamities. They called upon all for safe urbanization considering disaster risk of future generation.
