Seminar on Bangladesh’s IT sector held in Tokyo

A seminar on the prospect of Bangladesh’s IT sector in Japan was held at Fujitsu Research Institute in Tokyo on Friday.
Embassy of Bangladesh and Fujitsu Research Institute jointly organised the seminar where over100 representatives from different Japanese companies took part, said a press release.
Rabab Fatima, the ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan, presented the keynote paper on the macroeconomic development of Bangladesh and prospects of Bangladesh’s IT sector.
She explained the overall socioeconomic scenario of Bangladesh.
The envoy said the advancement of Bangladesh is now recognised by the world. In 2019, Bangladesh was the 41st largest economy of the world and it is forecast to be in the 24th position by 2032, said the ambassador.
She informed the audience about the recent visit to Dhaka of Toshimitsu Motegi, State Minister for Economic and Fiscal Policy of Japan. Motegi emphasised on the cooperation in the IT sector between Japan and Bangladesh at the meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and visited several IT companies in Bangladesh, ambassador added.
She urged the Japanese investors to invest in the IT sector of Bangladesh and recruit Bangladeshi skilled IT professionals.
In a separate presentation, Akito Takahashi, Director of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), explained the JICA development initiatives in Bangladesh, including IT cooperation between Japan and Bangladesh, especially on the human resources development.
