A seminar on Actuarial Science was held on the eve of initiation of a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science Program at the East West University (EWU) on Tuesday at Aftabnagar in the city.
EWU Department of Applied Statistics organized the seminar. A good number of Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers and the representatives of various insurance companies attended the seminar.
M Shefaque Ahmed, Actuary, Chairman, Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority was the Chief Guest while Dr Sohrab Uddin, Actuary, Chairman, Sadharan Bima Corporation and Prof Ahmed Shafee, Vice Chancellor, EWU were present as special guests. Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees of the EWU and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank chaired the seminar.
The course curriculum was presented by Prof Dr M Ataharul Islam, Chairperson, Department of Applied Statistics, and Prof Dr M. Mosleh-Uddin, Member of the Board of Trustees and the Program Advisor of the Department of Applied Statistics, EWU conducted the open discussion in the seminar.
