Police have detained BNP Vice Chairperson Selima Rahman on Tuesday, hours after she announced the extension of the party’s ongoing 48-hour strike by 12 hours.
She was held from her house in Dhaka City’s Gulshan on Tuesday evening, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman, speaking tobdnews24.com
She had earlier told a press conference at her house that the strike had been extended by 12 more hours in protest against the arrest of BNP leaders and activists.
BNP assistant office secretary Shamimur Rahman was with Selima Rahman when she was detained.
Police first raided her house to detain her but could not, he told bdnews24.com.
Later, they raided her brother’s flat in the same building and detained her, he said.
