Selima Ahmad MP, President and Founder of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) and the Vice Chair person of Nitol-Niloy Group, has been nominated as a “Leadership Champion” by the World Bank Group for the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) for the period June 2020-May 2022 for her lifelong mission to empower women and extra ordinary contribution to promoting women’s economic empowerment in Bangladesh. From Bangladesh Selima Ahmad MP has achieved this prestigious position, according to the Head of Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative Secretariat of Washington D.C release on June 30, 2020.
Other competitors are from Japan, Netherlands, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, USA, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Representative of Senior Management of World Bank Group.
The Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) is a groundbreaking partnership by World Bank Group that aims to unlock financing for women-led/owned businesses (WSMEs) in developing countries. We-Fi’s partners include 14 governments, six multilateral development banks as implementing partners, and numerous other stakeholders in the public and private sector around the world. The key objectives of the Leadership Champions will be to mobilize global support for women entrepreneurs through a set of high-level advocacy initiatives, including through highlighting projects supported through We-Fi by the World Bank Group.
