National Youth Day observed: ‘Self-working youth forces can ensure sustainable dev’

National Youth Day was observed in Rampal on Tuesday.
Youth Development Department of Rampal Upazilla chalked out an elaborate programme to celebrate the Day.
They brought out a rally at 10 a.m. that paraded Rampal Bazar.
 After that , a discussion meeting was held at Upazilla Auditorium .Being presided over by Youth Development Officer Md. Fazlur Rahman , UNO of Rampal Upazilla Rajib Kumar Roy was present there as Chief Guest . Ex-Upazilla Chairman and Deputy Muktijoddha Commander of Bagerhat District Command Sk. Abdul Jalil , Upazilla Vice-Chairman Moajjem Hossain and Mohila Vice-Chairman Hosneara Mili were present there as special guest. The function came to an end at 1 p.m.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Speakers at a post-rally discussion here yesterday termed the self-working youth forces as the main foundation of sustainable development.
They viewed utmost emphasis should be given on transforming them into competent human resources. All the government and non-government agencies concerned should work together to attain the cherished goal.
District Administration and Department of Youth Development (DYD) jointly organised the discussion at Shilpakala Academy auditorium to mark the National Youth Day-2016.
The speakers opined that transforming the youths into worthy citizens has become an urgent need for building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
Importance should be given on involving the unemployed youths in various income-generation activities to protecting them from drug addiction and different other anti-social activities, speakers said.
Additional Commissioner (Development and ICT) of Rajshahi division Sultan Abdul Hamid addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner Sabet Ali in the chair.
Deputy Director of DYD Matiur Rahman welcomed the participants.
During his keynote presentation, Dr Tasiqul Islam Raja, retired principal of Shahmukhdum Degree College, gave an overview of the country’s existing position of the youths and government intervention in this regard.
Chief Guest Abdul Hamid said importance should be given on transforming the youths into skilled citizens through imparting them with training on different vocations.
He viewed that many of the youths became derailed due to lack of proper care and nursing besides bad association and ultimately they become burden of the society that is unfortunate for the nation.
He urged the attending youths to extend their whole-hearted cooperation to police for freeing the young generation from drug-addiction.
BSS from Faridpur adds: National Youth Day was observed here yesterday in a befitting manner. Local Youth Development Directorate and district administration jointly organized the programme as a part of the countrywide programme.
In this connection a colorful rally was brought out from DC office premises.
A discussion meeting held at the conference room of DC was chaired by Deputy Director of Youth Development directorate ASM Mainul Ahsan while DC Begum Umme Salma Tanzia attended as the chief guest.
DC Umme Salma in her speech said that it is youth community who can make our country happy and prosperous by deploying their energy, devotion, skill, patriotism and honesty.
She said that by engaging their creativity with limited resources they can be self- employed without depending on others.
The DC said there are ample opportunities in several fields created by the government to be self- employed after taking necessary training facilities provided by the Youth development directorate.
She also advised the directorate shape the training module as per requirements of the man power importing countries.
She said that the present government’s digitization program has opened a new avenue for the youths because they can now earn lot of money through on-line outsourcing work.
Other speakers mentioning the contributions of the youths in different national crises including the great liberation war said that youths are the most potential resource of a nation and they must not be exploited for evil purposes.
Among others ADC(Gen) Protap Chnadra Biswas, Assistant Director of YouthG.M. Faruk, self employed Shahidul Islam, self-employed Sharmin Ferdousi, NGO personnel Jahnagir Alom , Azharul Islam, Kazi Ashraful Hassan and Women Affairs Officer Kh. Daulatana Akhtar.
It was disclosed in the meeting that Youth directorate of Faridpur has so far given a credit of Taka 45 crore 85 lakh 21 thousand and provided various training to 73615 youths both male and female. Of the total trained youths about 55846 have become self-employed.
In the meeting five youths including two female were awarded district youth awards. Besides, five youths were given cheques of loan amounting to Taka 2 lakh 90 thousand.
