The disabled and other physically challenged population should be provided with need-based training utilising modern technologies to make them self-reliant though income generating activities (IGAs).
“Without mainstreaming of the disabled population through ensuring their development, the overall national development and achievement of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) is not possible,” Superintendent of Police (SP), Rangpur Biplob Kumar Sarkar said. Sarkar viewed this at a function arranged maintaining physical distance at Paglapeer Autistic and Protibondhi Biddyalaya premises in Sadar upazila of Rangpur on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest. He distributed 30 sewing machines among the trained autistic and disables students of the institution and local disabled people on behalf of Rangpur District Police to make them self-reliant through IGAs sitting at their respective homes.
Presided over by Officer-in-Charge of Rangpur Sadar Kotwali police station ABM Sajedur Rahman, Additional SP (A Circle) Abu Tayeb Md. Arif Hossain and Assistant SP Md. Ashraful Alam, among others, attended the function.
