Self-assessment workshop held at BUET

A workshop on self-assessment organized by Institutional Quality Assurance cell (IQAC), BUET was held at the NAME Seminar Room, BUET on Thursday. The training workshop focused on self-assessment, accreditation and outcome based engineering education for producing skilled and balanced engineers who can contribute effectively beyond their professional careers.
In the inaugural ceremony, Prof Dr Mohammad Kaykobad, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as Chief Guest graced the occasion while Prof Dr Md. Saidur Rahman of Department of Computer Science and Engineering was present as the special guest. Prof Dr Mohammad Kaykobad spoke on the importance of quality education and accreditation in higher education.
Prof Dr Kaykobad also congratulated the IQAC for taking the initiative to carry out Self-Assessment Exercise of different departments.
The training workshop was conducted by Prof Dr Md. Saidur Rahman, Dept of CSE, Prof Dr M Rafiqul Islam, Director, IQAC, and Dr Kazi Bayzid Kabir, Additional Director, IQAC. Thirty two faculty members from CSE, WRE, MME, URP and Mathematics departments and IICT of BUET attended the workshop.
Prof Dr Maglub Al Nur, Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering graced the certificate awarding ceremony as the chief guest. Prof Dr Nur stressed on the importance of quality Ed and highlighted the importance of Accreditation of our Engineering degrees.
Three faculty members Prof Dr Md. Ataur Rahman, Head, Department of WRE, Prof. Dr Liakot Ali, Director, IICT and Dr Md. Musleh Uddin Hasan, Associate Professor, Department of URP also spoke on the occasion and express their views on the workshop and the ongoing QA activities at BUET. At the end of the workshop, Prof Dr Maglub Al Nur distributed the certificates among the faculty members participated in the workshop.
