Seized gold bars not yet deposited to BB

The Detective Branch (DB) of police is yet to deposit the seized gold bars recovered earlier from the city’s Rampura area.
Following the gold haul, a Dhaka court ordered the police to deposit all the gold bars to Bangladesh Bank as some of the seized bars were found missing from the police custody.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Iqbal Hossain said that the gold bars were in their custody.”We will submit the bars to Bangladesh Bank soon”, he told the media on Monday.
Meanwhile, Samir Biswas and Mahin from whom the gold baars were seized, have been sent to jail on Monday following expiry of their remand. The have given their confessional statement to the Magistrate under section 164 on the day. In their confessional statement they reportedly said that 235 gold bars were in their car but Kamruzzaman, Investigation Officer (IO)
reportedly showed recovery of only 70 gold bars, reports said.
Meanwhile, Kamruzzaman, Second Officer of Rampura Police Station has been served show cause notice for the second time for his involment in hiding the truth regarding gold recovery. Deputy Commissioner of Motijheel police isued the show cause notice on him on Sunday afternoon, it was learnt.
He has been asked to respond him within next three days, official source said. Kamruzzaman however, refuted the alligation against him.
On March 13, police seazed a car from Rampura Bank Colony. The three young men fled from the car .Later two of them came to police station fo nagotiate with police but they were detained.
