SEIF initiates to develop 5 lakh skilled manpower

Finance Division (FD) of the Ministry of Finance has initiated to develop five lakh skilled manpower in the country for eliminating poverty and ensure sustainable development to build Bangladesh a middle income country by 2021.
Speakers said at a workshop held at local circuit house under Skills for Employment Investment Programme (SEIF) here yesterday.
Khairul Islam, Deputy Project director of SEIF presided over the function while Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Ruhul Amin addressed the function as the chief guest.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shankar Ranjon Shah, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Shamsul Arefin, officials from divisional level, representatives of training institute, representatives from industry associations, employers associations, disadvantaged community, journalists and NGOs were participated at the workshop.
They are exchanging their views and opinion for the development of an effective social marketing strategy.
The officials said the main purpose of marketing strategy is to address female and disadvantaged community like ethnic community, people from Char and Haor, recently extinct enclave and persons with disabilities.
Of the total trainees, at least 30 percent female are being covered in skill training on priority basis, the sources added.
Organizer sources said in the first phase of the training programme provided to 500,000 people by 2020 through 34 Government Training Institute, 12 Industry Associations, PKSP and SME division of Bangladesh Bank.
Apart from Government finance, the Asian Development Bank and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SIDA) is providing financial support to the programme.
The SEIP is providing training to nine priority areas including Garments and Textile Industries, Construction, Information and Communication Technology, Ship Building, Leather and Footwear Industry, Tourism and Hospitality, Nursing and Health Technology and Agro Food Processing.
